Privacy policy

The team that runs EditCall is the data controller. For anything on this page, write to [email protected].

All of this comes from the application form, and you type it yourself:

• Name and email address
• WhatsApp number and Discord username, so founders can reach you
• Instagram handle and portfolio link, if you give them
• Country of residence
• Expected pay: an amount, a currency, and a period
• Availability: hours per week, engagement types, work types, and your current status
• Roles, primary role, and experience level
• Whether you are studying, employed elsewhere, or freelancing, and any detail you add
• Up to three links to your own work
• A headshot photo and a resume PDF, both optional
• Which channel you found us through, and whose share link you used if you arrived through one

Once you are in, we also keep what you submit to jobs: your deliverable links, any note you attach, and the stage each application has reached.

Name, email address, and optionally a company name, a website, a short note about what you are hiring for, and a profile photo.

• A session cookie, so you stay signed in. It is the only cookie this site sets.
• A copy of every email we send you, including its contents, so the team can confirm what went out.
• Which editors were emailed about which job.
• Ratings, private founder notes, and written reviews about editors, added by founders.
• Error records when something in the app fails, so the team can fix it.
• IP addresses held briefly in memory to limit repeated sign-in and form attempts. These are not written to the database and disappear when the server restarts.

There is no analytics package, no advertising pixel, and no third-party tracker anywhere on this site.

• Founders on this team and the administrator can see every editor profile, including contact details, expected pay, and resumes.
• Editors cannot browse other editors. You only ever see your own profile.
• Job posts are public and can be shared as links. They contain the role and the pay, never any editor's details.
• Private founder notes and ratings are never shown to the editor they describe. Written reviews are shown on that editor's profile.
• Nobody outside the team sees any of it. We do not sell, rent, or share your information with anyone.

Everything sits in a single database on a server we rent in Mumbai, India, from Fly.io, along with the photos and resumes people upload. Email is delivered by Resend, which means your address and the contents of the emails we send you pass through their systems. Those two companies are the only outside services involved.

Your profile stays until you ask us to remove it. Nothing is deleted automatically, because an editor we did not hire this month is often the right person next month. Sign-in sessions expire after 30 days. Password reset links expire after an hour, email confirmation links after seven days.

• You can edit or correct nearly everything on your profile yourself, at any time, from your dashboard.
• You can set yourself to booked so founders stop approaching you, without deleting anything.
• You can ask us for a copy of everything we hold about you.
• You can ask us to delete your account. We remove your profile, uploads, submissions, and reviews. Ask by email and we will confirm when it is done.

Passwords are stored as bcrypt hashes, never as text, so nobody on the team can read yours. Sessions use random tokens in a cookie that JavaScript cannot read. Password reset and email confirmation links are stored only as hashes, work once, and expire. Resumes are readable only by founders, the administrator, and the editor they belong to. Sign-in attempts are rate limited.

No system is perfect. If you find a problem, please write to us at the address above rather than posting it publicly, and we will fix it.

This is a hiring tool for working professionals. It is not intended for anyone under 16.

If this policy changes in a way that affects you, we will email everyone with an account rather than quietly editing this page. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
